In case you are cruising on the highway and see this car on your rear view mirror, you really do not need to move over. It will surely get past you. Your kids will even say, “Dad, that car is way faster than us”, and will throw out a wave and a smile to the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant. Some new images of the new vehicle got leaked out of the internet recently and surely has created some buzz.

2014-audi-rs-6-avantThe 2014 RS 6 Avant sports a 4.0-L V-8 powerplant that can bring out 560 horsepower without a sweat. It can blast from 0 to 62 mph in a matter of 3.9 seconds. That number puts it in the territory of the Corvette ZR1 and to think it has a backseat and a decent amount of cargo space. The new RS 6 Avant is also lighter by as much as 220 pounds than its older sibling.

As how Audi does it, the Quattro AWD system is responsible for the acceleration and somehow provides the all-weather driving capability. You really do not want to go 189.5 miles an hour on a snow-covered road but we are just saying that this ride can do it.

The powerful twin-turbo engine can get to its peak power not only on a single point of the rev meter but between the whole range of 5,700 and 6,700 rpm. You can tap into its peak torque starting at 1,750 rpm and can sustain it through 5,500 rpm. It gets all of the compressed air it needs from the twin-scroll engine turbos installed at the V of the engine block together with an intercooler.

The standard model of the 2014 RS 6 can get to a top speed of 155 mph and that is electronically limited. Bring to the equation the Dynamic package and you can expect it to jump to 174 mph. The Dynamic Plus setup can boost the numbers to 189.5 mph.

Despite the great acceleration, the Audi RS 6 Avant manages to have a fuel mileage of 24 miles a gallon by US standards.
